17-4 PH Sheet
Altemp Alloys carries 17-4 stainless steel sheet, which is a favorite of engineers and product designers who find that this product simplifies design and manufacturing processes while reducing costs.
With excellent resistance to corrosion and a high degree of hardness, this strong PH stainless steel sheet has a wide range of industrial applications, including:
- Turbine blade production
- Aircraft and gasoline engine turbines
- Casks for nuclear waste
- Helicopter foils
- Helicopter deck platforms
- Food production and processing
- Chemical processing
- Pulp and paper production
- Mechanical part production
17-4 PH stainless steel sheet is made up primarily of iron. It also contains significant levels of chromium (up to 17.5 percent), nickel (up to 5 percent), copper (up to 4 percent) and manganese (up to 1 percent). Columbium, tantalum, carbon, phosphorus, sulfur and molybendum may also be present in trace amounts.
With brief heat treatments in lower temperature ranges, any warping and scaling can be easily reduced. 17-4 PH sheet is inherently resistant to corrosion and has high strength ratings in the range of 1100 to 1300 MPa (160 to 190 ksi). It also maintains its versatile and reliable mechanical properties in temperatures as hot as 600 °F (316 °C).
At Altemp Alloys, we offer 17-4 PH stainless steel sheets in both AMS 5604 and ASTM-A-693 configurations. If you would like pricing information or would like to learn more about the physical properties of this versatile metal product, please contact our in-house product specialists.
